Julie Diaz Waters is a feminist, activist and California lobbyist deeply committed to fighting for equality on all levels. Julie was born in Berkeley to an African American father and Mexican American mother and raised in Oakland. Her parents instilled the value of hard work and service to her community at a very young age and those lessons have guided her life long commitment to public service.
Julie serves as the Vice Chair of Emerge California, a candidate training program that empowers Democratic self -identified women leaders to run for elected office —and WIN. Additionally, she serves as an elected member of the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee (AD-15) and in 2019 was appointed to serve as Lead Chair of the Organizing Committee of theCalifornia Democratic Party, where she leads their statewide voter outreach program.
Ms. Waters is a graduate of San Diego State University, JohnF. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University Executive Education,Emerge California, Leadership East Bay and in her free-time volunteers in her local community as a member of the Alameda Contra Costa Chapter of the Links,Incorporated.
